Grading companies publish a lookup for their certificate numbers. PSA is the most common for cards. Use the company's own site, never a link sent to you.
Step 1: Read the certificate number from the label in the listing photos, not from the description alone.
Step 2: Type it into the grading company's official lookup page yourself.
Step 3: Check the item, year, and grade returned match what the listing claims.
What to compare
- Does the certificate number in the photo match the one in the description?
- Does the lookup describe the same item, year, and grade?
- Does the holder in the photos look like that company's current holder?
- Are there several photos of the label, or just one at an angle you cannot read?
A certificate number proves a slab with that number exists. It does not prove the slab in the photo is that slab. Match the details, and be suspicious of a number you cannot read in any photo.
eBuy does not run these registries and cannot confirm the accuracy of a third-party lookup.
