What is KYC and why does eBuy need it?

12 May 2026 48 views KYC Seller Verification

KYC stands for Know Your Customer. On eBuy it means verifying who a seller is before they can list items or be paid.

Why it is required

  • eBuy transfers real money to sellers, and Indian payment rules require the recipient to be identified
  • Buyers are handing over money to a stranger, and verification means that stranger is accountable
  • It makes it much harder for someone banned for fraud to simply come back under a new name

Who needs it

Only sellers. If you just buy on eBuy, you never have to complete KYC.

What it does not do

  • It does not guarantee you will be approved as a seller
  • It does not make your listings visible on its own, as each listing is still reviewed
  • It does not guarantee when a payout will arrive
Submit KYC only through the form inside your eBuy account. Nobody from eBuy will ever ask for your PAN, Aadhaar, or bank details over WhatsApp, a phone call, or social media.
